Best Stringed Instrument Player 18 and under
Best Stringed Instrument Player 19 and older
Best Stringed Instrument Player Contest Rules & Eligibility
Eligibility:
- Age Requirement: Please select appropriate contest by age group.
- Instrument: The contest is open to all stringed instrument players, including guitar, bass, violin, cello, etc.
- Categories: There will be two separate contests:
- Best Stringed Instrument Player 18 or under
- Best Stringed Instrument Player 19 or over
- Contestant Limit: A maximum of 12 contestants per category will be accepted. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Submission Deadline: All contestants must sign up by May 28th, 2025. No late entries will be accepted.
Performance: Each contestant must perform a solo piece no longer than 5 minutes
Additional Information:
- Contestants must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their performance time for sound check and equipment setup.
- Contestants must agree to be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes by the Las Vegas Guitar Trade Show.

Contest Rules:
- Instrument Setup: Contestants are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any necessary accessories (e.g., pedals, picks, strings). Amplifiers will be provided.
- Song Choice: Contestants may perform an original song or a cover. However, all songs must be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages.
- Performance Time: Each performance must not exceed 5 minutes. Contestants will be penalized for exceeding this time limit.
- Judging Criteria: Performances will be judged on the following:
- Technique (25%): Mastery of the instrument.
- Creativity (25%): Originality and musical innovation.
- Stage Presence (25%): Confidence and audience engagement.
- Overall Performance (25%):
- Judges’ Decision: All decisions made by the panel of judges are final.
- Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie, the contestant with the highest “Technique” score will be declared the winner. If still tied, judges will discuss and make a final decision.
- Prizes: The winner of each category will receive:
- Best String Player Award
- Additional prizes to be announced during the event.
- Disqualification: Contestants will be disqualified for:
- Failure to follow the contest rules.
- Offensive or inappropriate behavior during the event.
- Misrepresentation of identity or performance material.
